Cindy Williams and Eddie Mekka to Star in It Had to Be You in Sullivan, IL

Cindy Williams and Eddie Mekka will star in the romantic comedy, It Had to Be You, at the Little Theatre On The Square in Sullivan, IL, November 6-16. Michael Weber will direct.

Written by real life husband and wife comedy writers Renée Taylor and Joseph Bologna, the play tells the story of part-time ‘B’ movie actress and full time kook Theda Blau who, at a catastrophic audition as spokesperson for a cocktail mixer, meets divorced TV producer Vito Pignoli.

The production will feature scenic design by Angela Miller, lighting design by Dustin Derry, sound design by Joseph Fosco, and costume design by Jeff Hendry.

Williams recently played “Mrs. Tottendale” in the Broadway production of The Drowsy Chaperone and starred in the national tours of Grease!, Moon Over Buffalo and Death Trap. She is best known for her role as “Shirley Feeney” on the television classic, Laverne & Shirley.

Mekka earned Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for The Lieutenant, and also appeared on Broadway in Jumpers and The Magic Show. Additional theater credits include My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish and I’m In Therapy Off-Broadway and the national tours of Fiddler on the Roof, Grease!, and The Goodbye Girl. He played the role of Carmine (The Big Ragoo) Ragusa on Laverne & Shirley.
