Steppenwolf to Present David Sedaris in June, Hold Annual Gala May 8

Best-selling author and NPR humorist David Sedaris will return to Steppenwolf Theatre Company for An Evening with David Sedaris, June 8-13.

Sedaris will be reading selections from his soon-to-be-released book Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, due out in October. The performance will be followed by a Q&A session and book/CD signing.

Sedaris’ books include Barrel Fever, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Naked, and When You Are Engulfed in Flames. He and his sister, Amy Sedaris, have collaborated under the name “The Talent Family” and have written half-a-dozen plays, including The Book of Liz, the Obie-winning One Woman Shoe, and Incident at Cobbler’s Knob. His original radio pieces can often be heard on This American Life, and he has been nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album.

In related news, Steppenwolf’s annual gala, entitled Choose to Believe, is set for Saturday, May 8 at 6:30pm. It will be held at Structured Development’s TruServe Building, 1460 N. Halsted Street, in Chicago. The gala will feature a performance from the company’s current production of Endgame, directed by Frank Galati, and starring Ian Barford, Francis Guinan, Martha Lavey, and William Petersen. The event will also include a live auction, and dancing and live music by Steppenwolf co-founder Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band.
