Roberta Maxwell to Join Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s 2011 Acting Company

Broadway veteran Roberta Maxwell has joined the 2011 acting company for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, and will portray the Duchess of York in Richard III and the Nurse in Titus Andronicus.

She joins such previously reported actors as Brian Bedford, Brent Carver, Brian Dennehy, Peter Donaldson, Martha Henry, and Geraint Wyn Davies. For additional details, see our previous story.

Maxwell last appeared at Stratford Shakespeare as Oenone in the 2009 production of Phedre, with other roles with the company including Lady Macbeth, Rosalind in As You Like It, Olivia in Twelfth Night, Nina in The Seagull, Elmire in Tartuffe and Mistress Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor. Her Broadway credits include Summer and Smoke, Our Town, Equus, Othello, and more.


In related news, key casting for Stratford Shakespeare’s production of Camelot is now complete. The musical, directed by Gary Griffin, will star the previously reported Brent Carver as Merlyn and Pellinore, Lucy Peacock as Morgan le Fey and Geraint Wyn Davies as King Arthur. In addition, the cast will feature Kaylee Harwood as Guenevere, Jonathan Winsby as Lancelot, Dan Chameroy as Sir Dinadan, and Mike Nadajewski as Mordred.
