Samantha Barks and Company of Pretty Woman Meet the Press

The musical adaptation of the hit 1990 film will play a limited five-week engagement in Chicago before heading to Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre.

The company of Pretty Woman: The Musical met the press today as they prepare for the show's world premiere, which is set to begin previews March 13 for a five-week engagement at Chicago's Oriental Theatre through April 15. Following the Chicago run the production will head to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre, beginning previews July 20 ahead of an August 16 opening night.

With an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, the musical features a book by Garry Marshall and the film's screenwriter, J.F. Lawton. The production will feature scenic design by David Rockwell; costume design by Gregg Barnes; lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Philip S. Rosenberg; sound design by John Shivers; hair design by Josh Marquette; and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Will Van Dyke.

Heading the company are Samantha Barks and Steve Kazee as Vivian and Edward. They are joined by Orfeh (Kit), Jason Danieley (Philip Stuckey), Eric Anderson (Mr. Thompson), and Kingsley Leggs (James Morse). Additional casting will be announced later.

Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, Pretty Woman: The Musical is produced by Paula Wagner, Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions, Roy Furman, James L. Nederlander, Caiola Productions, Hunter Arnold, Stage Entertainment, and the John Gore Organization.
