Miss Saigon Revival Confirmed for Broadway

The new London revival of the classic rock opera Miss Saigon will play Broadway within "the next two years," producer Cameron Mackintosh has announced. No further timeline has been revealed, though the London mounting, at the Prince Edward Theatre on February 27, 2016.
Miss Saigon is currently the 12th-longest-running show in Broadway history. It features a book and lyrics by Alain Boublil, book and music by Claude-Michel Schonberg, lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr., and additional lyrics by Michael Mahler. Inspired by Puccini's Madame Butterfly, the musical tells the story of Kim, a young woman who falls for an American GI named Chris, as their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
In the vein of Mackintosh's current Tony-nominated revival of Les Misérables, this new production of Miss Saigon, helmed by Laurence Connor, is described as grittier and more realistic than the original, featuring new scenic designs and a new song for the character Ellen. Bob Avian provides the musical staging.
There's no word on who will lead the Broadway company, though the London production continues to star Filipino-American actress Eva Noblezada as Kim and Manila-born Jon Jon Briones as The Engineer.
