Flashback Friday: Broadway's Newsies Were the Kings of New York at the Tony Awards

Jeremy Jordan, Kara Lindsay, and more original stars will carry the Disney banner all the way to cinemas.

Earlier this week, we learned that Disney's hit musical Newsies will not only be recorded for posterity, but will reunite the show's original Broadway stars for the occasion. Jeremy Jordan and Kara Lindsay will reprise their onstage romance as Jack Kelly and Katherine Plumber, along with the Beautiful tour's Ben Fankhauser (Davey) and recent Tuck Everlasting star Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Crutchie), who all join the touring cast for one performance on September 11 for the taping.

We have to wait until 2017 for the performance's official in-cinema release, so we decided to tide ourselves over with this flashback to the cast's 2012 Tony performance, featuring all the protesting newsboys (and girl) when they were just beginning their Broadway journey.
