It Shoulda Been You leading man David Burtka is on leave from the new musical comedy and won't be able to return for the show's August 9 closing date. The cause, according to Burtka's tweet, is vocal issues. He played groom-to-be Brian Howard. He has been replaced by his understudy, Aaron C. Finley.

Written by Brian Hargrove and Barbara Anselmi, It Shoulda Been You will end its run at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on August 9 after 31 previews and 135 regular performances. Directed by Tony and Emmy winner David Hyde Pierce, the musical, which follows two families who come together to celebrate a wedding, received six Outer Critics Circle Award nominations and three Drama Desk Award nominations.

Tyne Daly, Harriet Harris, Sierra Boggess, Lisa Howard, and Edward Hibbert lead the cast, alongside Steve Rosen, Montego Glover, Josh Grisetti, Michael X. Martin, Anne L. Nathan, Nick Spangler, and Chip Zien.
