The Drama League will honor the Tony Award-winning Broadway icon Bernadette Peters at its annual gala, to be held Monday, November 2 at The Plaza. This year's celebration commemorates the Drama League's 100 years of service to the theater community and will feature a musical tribute to Peters' career in theater, television, film, and music.

Peters has starred on Broadway in Follies, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Gypsy, and Sunday in the Park With George. She received Tony Awards for her performances in Annie Get Your Gun and Song and Dance, and Golden Globe Award for her performance in the film Pennies From Heaven. She is also the cofounder of the organization Broadway Barks, which specializes in finding homes for dogs and cats.

"Since 1916, The Drama League has been honored to celebrate the career achievements of the great women of Broadway, including Helen Hayes, Katherine Cornell, Jessica Tandy, Ethel Merman, Barbara Cook, Liza Minnelli, Chita Rivera, and many others," Drama League Executive Director Gabriel Shanks said in a statement. "To kick off our second century in this tradition, we could think of no one more perfect than Bernadette, who exemplifies the absolute best of what American musical theater can be. What a pleasure it is to gather her friends, co-stars and colleagues for an unforgettable night celebrating her many triumphs."
