Harold Prince Revue, Prince of Broadway, Still Looking to Complete Financing of Production

Prince of Broadway, a new musical revue that depicts the career of legendary Broadway director/producer Harold Prince, is still seeking investors.
As TheaterMania reported in March, the production, to be directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman (Big Fish), had called off its planned Broadway debut, which was aiming for this fall. It was the second delay for the musical, which had initially announced a fall 2012 opening.
The New York Times reports that two different sets of producers (the first, Aubrey Dan of Dancap Productions; the second, the auspicious team of Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel, and Thomas Viertel) have tried and failed to raise the show's $13 million budget, a shock considering Prince's pedigree as a 21-time Tony Award winner and a cast that included Linda Lavin, LaChanze, Sierra Boggess, Richard Kind, and Emily Skinner.
The production, which features a script by David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), is now expected to open in Japan in 2015, with sights set on Broadway for 2016.
