Tommy Batchelor Joins Billy Elliot Rotation

13-year-old Tommy Batchelor has joined the rotation of actors in the title role of the hit Broadway musical Billy Elliot, currently at the Imperial Theatre. Batchelor, who has been an understudy in the company, joins David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish in alternating in the title role.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer. The musical features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, direction by Stephen Daldry, and choreography by Peter Darling.

The principal cast alsoincludes Haydn Gwynne (Mrs. Wilkinson), Gregory Jbara (Dad), Carole Shelley (Grandma), and Santino Fontana (Tony). Featured roles include David Bologna and Frank Dolce alternating as Billy’s friend Michael, Stephen Hanna as Billy’s Older Self, Joel Hatch as George, Leah Hocking as Mum, Thommie Retter as Mr. Braithwaite, and Erin Whyland as Debbie.
