(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Tony Award winner Mary Beth Hurt will join previously announced stars Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Ikeda, Elizabeth Marvel, Martha Plimpton, Ana Reeder, and Marisa Tomei in the Manhattan Theatre Club's production of British dramatist Caryl Churchill's Top Girls, which will receive its Broadway premiere at the Biltmore Theatre, beginning on April 15. The production, which will open officially on May 7, will be directed by James Macdonald.
The play, which was presented by the Public Theater in 1982, tells the story of an ambitious career woman at an early 1980s London employment agency. Churchill's other work includes A Number, Far Away, and Mad Forest.
The creative team will include Tom Pye (sets), Laura Bauer (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), Darron L. West (sound), and Matthew Herbert (original music). Macdonald is currently directing the U.S. premiere of Chruchill's Drunk Enough to Say I Love You, starring Samuel West and Scott Cohen, at the Public Theater.
