Memphis to Be Broadcast on PBS on February 24

PBS will broadcast the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis on Friday, February 24 at 9pm as part of the THIRTEEN Great Performances series.


The production, which is playing at the Shubert Theatre, is directed by Christopher Ashley, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. The show is based on a concept by George W. George and has a book by Joe DiPietro and music and lyrics by David Bryan.

Set in the segregated South of the 1950s, the show follows the fictionalized life story of white radio disc jockey Huey Calhoon, who falls in love with both rock & roll and an electrifying black singer, Felicia Farrell


The broadcast will feature the show’s original cast, including Tony Award nominees Chad Kimball and Montego Glover, along with Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway, James Monroe Iglehart, John Jellison, and Cass Morgan.
