Whistler in the Dark Theatre Announces 2011/2012 Season

Whistler in the Dark Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2011/2012 season, which will run October 27-June 2.

Double, Double Toil and Trouble (October 27-November 19) will be a co-production with Boston’s Imaginary Beasts wherein Whistler in the Dark’s presentation of Tom Stoppard’s Dogg’s Hamlet, Cahoot’s Macbeth will play in rep with Imaginary Beasts’ production of Ionesco’s Macbett. From January 18-February 4, Wanted Something , a celebration of the works of Caryl Churchill, will include staged-readings of Churchill works as well as full productions of the plays Fen and A Number, directed by Jason King Jones.

In the tragi-comedy Recent Tragic Events (March 8-24), directed by Bridget Kathleen, Craig Wright examines the events of September 11, 2001 through the lens of a blind date taking place on September 12. The official season will close with a new translation of Euripides’ masterpiece Trojan Women (May 17-June 2), about the women of the fallen city of Troy awaiting their fate, directed by Benjamin Evett.
