American Repertory Theater to Host Memorial Service for Director David Wheeler

The American Repertory Theater, in association with Harvard University Office for the Arts and StageSource, will hold a memorial service to celebrate the life and accomplishments of longtime Resident Director David Wheeler, who as previously reported passed away on January 4, 2012. The service will take place May 14 at 6pm at American Repertory Theater’s Loeb Drama Center.

The celebration will include friends, colleagues, and family who knew and loved David, and all are invited to attend.

Wheeler directed over 200 plays in his long career, including over 20 productions at A.R.T. In 1963, he founded the Theater Company of Boston with producer Naomi Thornton and Fred Kimball. On Broadway, Wheeler directed Richard III with Al Pacino, and David Rabe’s The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel, for which Pacino won the Tony Award for Best Actor.
