The Amish Project to Begin Performances at New Repertory Theatre

The Amish Project by Jessica Dickey starts performances tonight at New Repertory Theatre. Set in 2006, the play is based on Nickel Mines shooting from the point of view of seven different characters. The five girls who were taken from an Amish school in Pennsylvania and kept as hostages make up five of the stories presented. In addition to these, however, is the point of view of the gunman. All of the stories tie together to show how these lives crossed paths and the difficult journey toward forgiveness and compassion after such a tragedy.
Written by Jessica Dickey and directed by Elaine Vaan Hogue, the play features Danielle Kellermann as the various characters in the story.
"It is with great pleasure that we celebrate the remarkable work of women theatre-makers in three diverse one-woman performances," says artistic director Jim Petosa. "The first in this series is a riveting work from playwright Jessica Dickey that examines a hauntingly tragic event from our recent past."
The creative team includes Kayleigha Zawacki (light design), Emily Astorian (costume design), Alexander Grover (set design), Andrew Duncan Will (sound design), and Rachel Policare (stage manager).
Performances will run through March 22.
