Opera Boston to Shut Down on January 1

Opera Boston is shutting its doors on January 1 due to budget problems, according to published reports.

The company had scheduled upcoming productions of Tippett's The Midsummer Marriage and Bellini's I Capuleti e I Montecchi, and had commissioned the opera Madame White Snake from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Zhou Long.
