McCaela Donovan, Ryan Overberg, Robert Saoud to Star in SpeakEasy’s Xanadu

Casting has been announced for SpeakEasy Stage Company’s upcoming production of Xanadu, to begin performances on May 11 at the Boston Center for the Arts.

Paul Daigneault will direct the Boston premiere of the musical, which will star McCaela Donovan (Clio/Kira), Ryan Overberg (Sonny), Robert Saoud (Danny Maguire/Zeus), Kathy St. George (Calliope/Aphrodite), and Shana Dirik (Melpomene/Medusa). The company will also include Cheo Bourne, Patrick Connolly, Kami Rushell Smith, and Val Sullivan.

The creative team will include Nicholas James Connell (musical director), David Connelly (choreograpy), Crystal Tiala (scenic design), Gail Astrid Buckley (costume design), Karen Perlow (lighting design), and Aaron Mack (sound design).

Based on the cult classic film of the same name, Xanadu, which ran on Broadway from 2007-2008, features a book by Douglas Carter Beane, and a score by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar which includes the hits “Magic,” “Suddenly,” and “Evil Woman,” among others).
