Casting has been announced for the world premiere of the new musical The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, featuring music by Chris Miller, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and book and direction by Joe Calarco. Presented as part of Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab, the piece will play The VFW Hall June 18-July 5, with an opening set for June 26.

The musical is inspired by Chris Van Allsburg's illustrative book, and tells the story of a writer named Harris Burdick who appears at the publishing offices of Peter Wenders with a series of astonishing drawings for a book he has written. While Burdick never returns with the accompanying stories, the illustrations are given a musical life by offering one explanation for the man's mysterious disappearance, taking the audience on a wild ride through wonder, fear, and the imagination.

The cast will include Romain Fruge, Mitchell Jarvis, Catherine Porter, Ben Roseberry, Lucia Spina, and Nicole Van Giesen. The creative team will include Brian Prather (production design), Elizabeth Flauto (costumes), Chris Lee (lighting), and Vadim Feichtner (musical direction).
