Brooks Ashmanskas, Malcolm Gets, Lauren Molina, et al. Set for Williamstown Theatre Festival 2011 Mainstage Season

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced its 2011 summer mainstage lineup. This year, only three productions will be presented.

The mainstage season will open with a revival of Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman’s You Can’t Take It With You, to run July 1-July 23. Christopher Ashley will direct what the revival of this play about a young woman who introduces her unconventional family to her fiance’s conservative, straight-laced parents. According to published reports, a Broadway run is planned for August.

In addition, Brooks Ashmanskas, Kristine Nielsen, Jonathan Patrick Walker, and Paxton Whitehead are set to star in a production of Oliver Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer (July 27 – August 7). Nicholas Martin will direct this 18th-century comedy about a pair of men from the city who retreat to the country to try to win the love of two young women.

The final offering will be Ten Cents A Dance, which will run August 11-28 and feature Malcolm Gets, Lauren Molina, and Jane Pfitsch. Tony Award winner John Doyle will directed this piece, which uses songs by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart to tell the story of a crooner who wistfully recalls his lifelong love affair of chorus girl Miss Jones, who will be embodied by five actresses, each portraying a different stage of the character’s life.
