Joe Calarco, Matthew Gardiner, Aaron Posner, Eric Schaeffer to Direct for Signature's 2012-2013 Season logo
Signature Theatre has announced the productions, directors, and initial casting for its 2012-2013 season.

Signature will open its season with Larry L. King, Peter Masterson, and Carol Hall's Tony Award-winning satire about moral hypocrisy The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (August 14-October 7), directed by Eric Schaeffer. Next, the theater will present the Washington premiere of Christopher Shinn's Dying City (October 2-November 25), which will feature Thomas Keegan and Rachel Zampelli as a passive-aggressive brother and sister-in-law dealing with the death of their brother and husband. Matthew Gardiner will direct.

Tom Eyen and Henry Krieger's Dreamgirls (November 13-January 6), a Tony Award-winning musical that captures the spirit and hope of Motown, will play during the holiday season, directed by Gardiner. Adapted and directed by Joe Calarco, Shakespeare's R&J (February 5-March 3) will tell the story of four boys whose repressive Catholic boarding school bans Romeo and Juliet. In the spring, Schaeffer will direct a co-production with Ford's Theatre of Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's musical comedy Hello, Dolly! (March 15-May 18).

Aaron Posner will make his Signature debut directing Beth Henley's Crimes of the Heart (April 2-April 28), which tells the story of the three eccentric Magrath sisters. Signature will close the season with George Furth and Stephen Sondheim's witty examination of matrimony Company (May 21-June 30), directed by Schaeffer.
