Growing up in apartheid South Africa during the 1950s, Hally is a young boy who spends his time with Sam and Willie, who work at the restaurant owned by Hally’s family. The three share lessons learned and fond memories, but when news comes that Hally’s alcoholic father will return home from the hospital the personal becomes political.
At once a coming of age drama and a scathing indictment of apartheid, Athol Fugard’s modern masterpiece continues to speak to the world’s many racial injustices. Directed by Shana Bestock.
