About the Show

It’s the summer of 1929 in this madcap classic, and Mrs. Rittenhouse, the upper echelon of high society, is throwing a party at her Long Island mansion for the return of noted African explorer Captain Spalding (originally portrayed by Groucho Marx) and to unveil a priceless statue donated by art patron Roscoe Chandler. Musicians Emmanuel Ravelli and the Professor (parts played by Chico and Harpo Marx in the stage and film version) also show up to entertain the guests, and to make a few bucks in the process. However, after the priceless statue goes missing, it’s up to Spalding, Ravelli, and the Professor to help find it.
