About This Show

Tapestry, a vocal ensemble of women called "utter perfection" by Gramophone magazine, presents "The White Rooster" and "Song Of Songs: Come Into My Garden, A Portrait of Sensual and Spiritual Love."

"The White Rooster," by composer Sheila Silver, was commissioned by the Smithsonian Museum to accompany their exhibit In the Realm of the Buddha and includes Tibetan singing bowls in the unique accompaniment.

Tapestry’s "Song of Songs" presents interpretations of the Bibical text as well as Latin chant, medieval compositions, Hebrew cantillation, Israeli songs, and improvisation between vielle (Medieval fiddle) and percussion. Vocalists Laurie Monahan, Cristi Catt and Daniela Tosic, will be joined by Sandra Morales-Ramirez (voice and percussion) and Shira Kammen on vielle and harp.
