About This Show

Back by popular demand, this is the LAST smooth cruise of the season! Smooth Jazz New York presents a preview of the Smooth Music Cruise sailing in the Caribbean January 31 – February 5, 2009. This cruise will feature Norman Brown, Nick Colionne, and Shilts (from Down To The Bone).
Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Norman Brown is continuing his Grammy® winning ways on a new album Stay With Me. A breezy, warm collection of 10 original tunes that offers a big dose of what Norman is famous for: tasty grooves, ear-caressing melodies, and delicious contemporary guitar licks. Norman will be joined on this Jam Session cruise by chart topping guitarist Nick Colionne.

Since blasting out of “The Big Windy” onto the national contemporary jazz scene in 2003, Nick’s career has been in ecstatic overdrive, perfectly embodying the crackling energy of his guitar. At the 2007 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, he succeeded Chris Botti as “International Instrumental Artist of the Year.” Nick’s new CD, No Limits, is a reflection of his ‘live’ show, from jazz to R&B to vocals to blues, all with the undeniably Nick flair. The first single, the title track, is already climbing the charts!

And as if that isn’t enough… Shilts (from Down To The Bone) will be featured on this cruise as well. Paul “Shilts” Weimar hails from London, England and has been playing saxophone since his early teens. His career has spanned all forms of jazz, soul, rock and pop music. He has toured all over the world and performed with a host of international artists, such as The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Rick Braun, Jeff Lorber, Peter White and many more. Eventually Shilts became the most visible and identifiable member of the UK jazz group Down To The Bone. His new release, “Jigsaw Life”, is a powerful showcase of Shilts’ multitude of performing and composing talents, focusing not only on his tenor brilliance but also his instantly infectious melodies.
