¿Qué me trajiste?: Cabaret Boricua is a bold play about the issues of identity and sovereignty of the Puerto Rican people and was inspired by the cultural and ideological shock Karina Casiano (writer, performer) received as a Latin U.S. citizen on her one-year trip to diverse South American countries in 1998.
The play, which premiered in Puerto Rico in 1999 and has since toured to Cuba in 2000 and Ecuador, Perú, Chile and Argentina in 2001, raises the question of the role of Puerto Ricans in their country’s political and social destiny with bittersweet humor. Performed entirely in Spanish.
