About This Show

Returning to the US for the first time since her stunning performance at Japan Society as part of their Kazuo Ohno 101: 3-Week Butoh Parade, Moeno Wakamatsu performs the world premiere of Printemps Futile (Futile Spring), a piece to be presented at Festival L’écume des Jour 2008: 3e manifestation à La Fond’Action Boris Vian — Sculpteurs du Temps in Paris. When there is nothing to hear or see inside – Into the density of silence, life’s eyes and ears permeate life’s desires beyond the absolute materiality of this body that can become one with the absoluteness of the universe. If not for this life’s volition — which in its fragility, which in its ephemera, believes itself timeless, and in its belief, revolts against the body and isolates itself from the rest, and suffers – It’s suffering will never corrupt the absolute corporal material who, through transformation, is eternally existing in its particled and non-particled matter and energy (maybe the only force there is, and its side-effect the soul. A soul, a flower.) If not for this life’s volition — it is Nothingness. Flowerless, beautiful, in futile spring.
