About This Show

Featuring pieces for various instrumentations including strings, winds, percussion, video, toy instruments, and bicycle, Moving Parts is drawn from the composers’ mutual experience with instrumental settings, improvised ensembles, and electronic music. Canadian composer Sabrina Schroeder works with raw edges, often inhabiting more understated sound worlds. Composer/percussionist Aaron Siegel experiments with structural dissonances such as temporal imbalance, transitional awkwardness and harmonic ambiguity. Together, their work represents an enthusiastic dedication to acoustic chamber music, albeit in a radicalized form.

Featured performers for the evening include Siegel, Schroeder, Jessica Pavone, Peter Evans, Leah Paul, Matt Bauder, Andrew Raffo Dewar, Chris Miller, Carl Testa, and Emily Ferrigno.

Moving Parts is followed at 10PM by Live Sh– (pronounced “Live Shhhhh”, “Live Show”, or “Live Shit”), a recurring music and performance party curated by Chase Granoff and Chris Peck. Admission is free for attendees of the Siegel/Schroeder concert; $3 for all others.
