Iyez, written and directed by Nadrae Reid, is inspired by Ntozake Shange. The play combines spoken-word, dance, poetry and a killer soundtrack. It’s all about love – the good, the bad, the ugly, the not attractive enough to make out with on a Friday night but maybe on a Tuesday if you’re really bored and ended up at a chi-chi lounge and you’re really not
chi-chi….

These pieces are all inspired by the playwrights’s real friends and real life: from a simple misunderstanding between two fresh-lovers (when does that ever NOT happen), to a woman discovering her bisexuality on a NYC bus, to a man repenting for the rape of his girlfriend.
