Almost a Goddess/Casi Una Diosa

Thalia Spanish Theatre presents the bilingual American premiere of Almost a Goddess/Casi Una Diosa, a play about Spanish artist Salvador Dalí by one of Spain’s most celebrated contemporary authors Jaime Salom (English translation by Gwynne Edwards), directed by Angel Gil Orrios.

It is a dreamy trip through the artist’s most important themes and images emerging from his unique pictorial language: time [soft clocks], money [“Avida Dollars”], love [“Un Chien Andalou”] and sex [conflict between hard and soft] frame the surrealistic world of Dali and his wife and muse, Gala, set on a peculiar stage melted by the blue of the Mediterranean Sea and sky, and the gold of sun and sand. Produced as part of the worldwide celebration of Dali’s centennial.
