In the Company of Friends: Dancers Talking to Dancers

About the Show

Dancers Over 40 was founded almost fifteen years ago by a group of Broadway dancers who were concerned about their ability to continue to live and work in a creative environment. Their goal has been to provide educational opportunities, seminars, socials and panel discussions on topics important to the mature dancer. Expanding upon this mission, the group is launching In the Company of Friends: Dancers Talking to Dancers, a series of forums and discussions with DO40 members about dance, theater, and the lives dancers led during their most creative years.

Ann Pimm, an original cast member from the 1941 production of Pal Joey (and One Touch of Venus) joins Kaye Popp Genese, an original cast member of the 1941 production of Best Foot Forward (and Something for the Boys), to speak alongside Stuart Hodes (1940s & ’50s, Martha Graham Dance Company, Do Re Mi, Kismet) and George Marcy (1950s, Damn Yankees, West Side Story). Dancer/actor Harvey Evans (1950s, ’60s, ’70s, West Side Story, Gypsy, Follies) serves as moderator. Marcy, the youngest member on the panel at 80, closes the event with a short performance from his upcoming cabaret show.
