About This Show

The Washington Avenue Players Project (WAPP) presents something
completely all its own, So To Speak. Join them for an original play
examining life, communities, a constant pursuit of happiness and a companion
to share it with.

So To Speak is a surreal, strange and often hilarious journey into the joys and struggles people find along life’s great drive in bumper-to-bumper
traffic. The process of creating this ensemble driven piece began with a
quote by Alvin Toffler. “Future shock is the shattering stress and
disorientation that we induce in individuals by subjecting them to too much
change in too short a time.” They didn’t seem to have this situation 200
years ago, but we have continued to feed the fire of change and it has now
become a houseguest that won’t leave. Living in and among this modern
condition of “future shock” we subject ourselves to the effects of an over
abundant amount of daily stimuli in our lives. So how do we cope?
