Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield Sing Elliot Smith

If you are a fan of the Avett Brothers or Jessica Lea Mayfield, you won’t want to miss the chance to see Ms. Mayfield and Seth Avett perform together on their upcoming US tour through the month of March. In support of their new album, a 12-song collection of Elliott Smith songs, the duo will be playing a variety of tunes from different sources, including Smith compositions, originals by Mayfield, and a few original selections from Avett’s solo efforts, which have never been performed in a live setting. In dramatic contrast to the high volume/high energy approaches these artists are more known for, the Avett/Mayfield collaboration will be characterized on stage by a more delicate treatment of the songs performed; less of a shout and more of a whisper…each night will be a celebration of the intimate exchange between words and melody.
