Debbie Friedman makes music that sounds much like what you might have if Joan Baez had selected Bible verses. She combines folk rhythms with English and Hebrew biblical and liturgical texts to create a simple, yet powerful and euphoric body of work. She has packed Carnegie Hall, and her music has been sung by Barney, the purple dinosaur. Her 21st album will be out in spring 2006. Now the Jewish troubadour is the subject of a documentary film, A Journey of Spirit.
Debbie tells her audiences, “I don’t care how you sing, as long as you sing!” Come to Temple Shalom in Naples on December 10th and be part of a joyful crowd.
