First brought to the attention of Curious Artistic Director Chip Walton by Denver Center Theatre Company regular Nagle Jackson, autodelete://beginning dump of physical memory// constructs the story of Kick Malone, a once-prominent publisher suddenly rendered incapable of producing intelligible speech. The language Kick fashions in an attempt to communicate remains a hollow echo of English and an ethereal tie to her former skill in manipulating the language. Past and present alternate and combine as Pierce, Meyer, and Lance — the men of Kick’s life — reconstruct her history in an attempt to reload her deleted memory. In the process of recreating Kick’s past, autodelete explores the connections between memory, words, and how language functions both to connect us with other people and to create a sense of self.
