Théâtre français opens its 40th season with Molière’s masterpiece Le Misanthrope. An original TfT production, the play will be directed by the award-winning Jean-Stéphane Roy.
Alceste is at odds with humankind for its lack of loyalty and the hypocrisies inherent in social conventions. Despite this, he is in love with Célimène, a flighty, shallow and heartless coquette, but fails to understand why she would refuse to follow him far from this mundane world, and live happily somewhere in isolation.
