About This Show

In his essays, poetry, and acclaimed fiction, author Wendell Berry often returns to the two central themes of his life: farming and community. Combining his intertwined passions for writing, social activism, and working the land, Berry explains the importance of small farmers in the political and economic landscape both on the local and national level. Berry has farmed in his native Henry County, Kentucky, since 1965. Most of his work is set in rural Port William on the Kentucky River, and illustrates with reverence the disappearing lifestyle of agricultural America.
