About This Show

Due to the change in the political climate (i.e. the war), the artists performing at Brava Theater’s Against The Grain: Artists for Peace – An Evening of Theater and Dissent fundraiser on Fri-Sat, April 25-26 have tailored their presentations to the current political situation and will now be presenting the following:

Hanifah Walidah and Rashad Pridgen’s magical world of poetry, spoken word, rap, hip hop dance, and criticism about the media and war.

The musical and rhythmic palate of Venezuelan multi-instrumentalist Jackeline Rago and issues of immigration since 9/11 with Venezuelan actress Greta Sanchez.

Comic relief: Sho Ho’s Sara Moore, and her antics, will have you laughing in the aisles as she responds to war from a clown’s perspective.

An authentic storyteller from the Navajo Tribe, Sunny Dooley, one of the few women in her tribe who has access to stories from her elders.

A Middle Eastern anti-war musical number from The Love Missile, performed for the first time by Golden Thread Productions.

Amy Tobin and Heather Gold’s apocalyptic sketch exploring the radical notion of being middle of the road. Drawing on a Jewish sensibility, comedy and tragedy, the piece asks when we must choose sides and who we will have dinner with in our increasingly polarized political circles.

Last but not least, the evening will feature a musical MC, the “Fiddler Off The Roof,” Kaila Flexer.

Award-winning theater director Amy Mueller directs.
