Stephen Cole and David Krane’s The Road to Qatar to Play Off-Broadway’s York Theatre in January

Stephen Cole and David Krane’s musical The Road to Qatar will play the York Theatre Company, January 25 -February 27. Casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

With book and lyrics by Cole and music by Krane, the show is based on the true story of two American musical theatre writers commissioned to write a larger-than-life Broadway-style musical for the Emir of Qatar.

Among Cole’s other credits are musicals such as After the Fair, The Night of the Hunter, Saturday Night at Grossinger’s , Capser, and Dodsworth. In addition, he is the recipient of the Edward Kleban Award and a Gilman-Gonzales Falla Commendation for musical theatre.

Krane wrote the musical Aspire, the first-ever commissioned American musical produced in the Middle East, with Cole. Among his other credits are dance music and additional score adaptation for the movie Chicago, and arrangements and additional score adaptation for the film version of Nine. In addition, he wrote the movie musical The Wheel Goes Round.
