Timeline Theatre Presents the Chicago Premiere of Inana
Timeline Theatre's production of Inana begins its run tonight. The play begins on the eve of the United States’ invasion of Baghdad in 2003. An Iraqi museum curator works desperately to save the treasures of his nation, including a statue of the ancient mother goddess Inana, the metaphorical soul of the country. He flees to London with his young bride, and it is there that he makes a life-changing decision in an effort to guarantee the safety of the statue. Set against international and personal intrigue, the play works to show a glimmer of hope and healing in a bleak landscape.
Directed by Kimberly Senior and written by Michele Lowe, the show features Behzad Dabu as Mohammed Zara and messenger, Anish Jethmalani as Emad Al-Bayit, Demetrios Troy as Yasin Shalid, Atra Asdou as Shali Shalid, Arya Daire as Mena Mohammed and Hama Shalid, Frank Sawa as Abdel-Hakim Taliq, and Michael B. Woods as waiter and Dominic Croft.
The creative team includes Collette Pollard (set design), Samantha Jones (costume design), Charles Cooper (lighting design), Mikhail Fiksel (sound design), and Ari Clouse (stage manager).
Performances will run through July 26.
