Steven Pasquale to Direct Rare Off-Broadway Revival of Waiting for Lefty

The cab company strike drama by Clifford Odets will run at Classic Stage Company.

Classic Stage Company has announced the three productions that will be part of its 2026-27 season.

From October-November 2026, Steven Pasquale will direct a revival of Clifford Odets’s agitprop drama Waiting for Lefty, starring Tala Ashe, Raffi Barsoumian, Greg Hildreth, and Conrad Ricamora. His staging will feature music by the band Yeller Tooth, made up of Sahar Milani and Cameron Scoggins.

February-March 2027 will see the New York premiere of the new musical adaptation of Ed Graczyk’s Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, with a score by Dan Gillespie Sells and Shakina, book by Ashley Robinson, choreography by Nancy Renee Braun, and direction by Giovanna Sardelli. The musical premiered at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in 2025.

Finally, Talene Monahon’s Wonder! A Woman Keeps a Secret, adapted by the 1714 cruise ship heist farce by Susanna Centlivre, will run in May-June 2027. The play features music by Mark Sonneblick, one of the Oscar-winning writers of “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters. It is currently receiving its world premiere at Northern Stage in Vermont.
