Broadway favorites and former Shrek the Musical costars Sutton Foster and Brian d’Arcy James have been named recipients of this year's Sarah Siddons Society's Actor of the Year Award, according to published reports. The honor will be presented on May 16 at Northwestern University's Pick-Staiger Concert Hall.
A two-time Tony winner, Foster's many Broadway credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Anything Goes, Shrek The Musical (opposite d'Arcy James), and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She is also known for the television shows Bunheads and Younger. This summer, she starred in the Encores! Off-Center production of Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party
On Broadway d'Arcy James can currently be seen in Something Rotten!, with his many stage credits including Shrek the Musical, Sweet Smell of Success, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Port Authority. He can also currently be seen in the film Spotlight, in which he plays an investigative reporter for the Boston Globe.
D'Arcy James, who received a Sarah Siddons Society's Scholarship while an undergraduate at Northwestern University, is the Society's first scholarship winner to also be awarded its annual acting award.
The Sarah Siddons Society is an American nonprofit organization founded in 1952 to promote excellence in the theater.
