
The Opera Orchestra of New York will present concert productions of Giacomo Meyerbeer’s L’Africaine and a double bill of Jules Massenet’s La Navarraise and Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana as part of its 2010-2011 season.
The double bill will be presented at Carnegie Hall at 7:30pm on Monday, October 25 and be conducted by the company’s new music director, Alberto Veronesi. Roberto Alagna will appear in both operas; Elina Garanca and Brian Kontes will co-star in La Navaraise, while Maria Guleghina, Krysty Swann and Mignon Dunn will appear in
Cavalleria Rusticana.
Eve Queler, who founded the company in 1967, will conduct L’Africaine at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 2 at Avery Fisher Hall. The cast will include Marcello Giordani, Chiara Taigi, Ellie Dehn, Giovanni Guagliardo, Gabriela Garcia, Daniel Mobbs, Djore Nance, and Michael McGee.
The season will also include a recital by soprano Meagan Miller at the Merkin Concert Hall at 8pm on Wednesday, February 9.
