Robert R. Oliver to Spell MacIntyre Dixon in The Fantasticks

Robert R. Oliver will play the role of Mortimer in the new Off-Broadway production of the Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt musical The Fantasticks for the first six weeks of the show’s run in place of MacIntyre Dixon, who has suffered a torn achilles tendon. The show is still set to begin preview performances on Saturday, July 29 and to open officially on Wednesday, August 16 at the Snapple Theater Center (210 West 50th Street at Broadway.

Oliver did a stint in The Fantasticks during the original, marathon run of the musical Off-Broadway. He has also appeared in Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding. In regional and touring productions, he has played such roles as Pete in Girl Crazy (with Lorna Luft), Hysterium in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady.

The Fantasticks also stars Sara Jean Ford as Luisa, Santino Fontana as Matt, James Moye as El Gallo, Martin Vidnovic as Bellomy, Leo Burmester as Hucklebee, Douglas Ullman, Jr. as The Mute, and Thomas Bruce (a.k.a. Tom Jones) as Henry. For more information, visit www.fantasticksonstage.com.
