Photos: Other Desert Cities, Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Allison Janney, Opens on Broadway

The new Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s 2011 play Other Desert Cities opened at the Hudson Theatre on October 18, where the run is currently scheduled to conclude on January 17.

John Benjamin Hickey directs the drama, which features an all-star cast led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Joe Keery, and Lily Rabe.

In Other Desert Cities, a novelist (Rabe) returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents (Louis-Dreyfus and Harris), former members of the Reagan inner-circle. When she announces plans to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil.

The design team for Other Desert Cities includes Scott Pask (scenic design), Tom Broecker (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Mikaal Sulaiman (sound design and original music), and Robert Pickens. Richard Hodge is production stage manager.

Our critic called the production a “triumphant” Broadway debut for Louis-Dreyfus; read Zachary Stewart’s full review here.
