Sondheim’s music and lyrics grace the F. Otto Haas Stage tonight.
Passion starts its run tonight at the Arden Theatre Company tonight. Set in 19th century Italy, the musical revolves around a handsome army captain sent to a remote outpost far from his married lover. While there he finds himself pursued by a mysterious woman with a dangerous obsession.
Directed by Terrence J. Nolen, the musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. The cast comprise Ben Cherry as Sergeant Lombardi, Ben Dibble as Colonel Ricci, Jennie Eisenhower as Clara, Liz Filios as Fosca, Darren Michael Hengst as Lieutenant Barri and Mother, Larry Lees as Lieutenant Torasso and Father, John Charles McLaughlin as Private Augenti and Mistress, Ben Michael as Giorgio, Michael Phillip O’Brien as Major Rizzoli and Ludovic, and Frank X as Doctor Tambourri.
The creative team includes Jorge Cousineau (set and video design), Rosemarie E. McKelvey (costume design), Thom Weaver (light design), Daniel Perelstein (sound design), Ryan Touhey (music director), Niki Cousineau (choreographer), and Alec E. Ferrell (stage manager).
Performances will run through June 28.
