”Bunheads” star Stacey Oristano and comedian Judy Gold are also slated to join the musical spoof this winter.
The off-Broadway musical comedy Disaster!, now running at St. Luke's Theatre, will welcome three new performers to its cast in the coming weeks.
Stacey Oristano, best known for her television roles on NBC's Friday Night Lights and ABC Family's Bunheads, will replace Mary Birdsong as lounge singer Jackie on January 13.
Broadway alum Annie Golden, who can now be seen as Norma Romano on the hit Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, will replace Tony nominee Mary Testa as she returns to the role of Shirley (having performed with the musical during its run at the Triad in 2012) from January 20-February 7.
Golden will then hand off the role to comedian Judy Gold, best known for her acclaimed off-Broadway shows The Judy Show – My Life as a Sitcom and 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother. Gold will begin performances on February 10.
Sirius/XM Satellite Radio personality and Broadway accompanist Seth Rudetsky penned the 1970s disaster-movie send-up with Jack Plotnick, who also directs. The musical incorporates a number of hit songs from the '70s including "Hot Stuff," "Don't Bring Me Down," "I Am Woman," "Alone Again Naturally," "Signed Sealed Delivered," "Knock on Wood," "Daybreak," "Sky High," and more.
The cast of Disaster! currently features Haven Burton (Shrek The Musical, Legally Blonde), Paul Castree (Young Frankenstein), Charity Dawson, Matt Farcher, Tom Riis Farrell (Chicago), Seth Rudetsky (The Ritz), Robb Sapp (Shrek The Musical), Jennifer Simard (Sister Act), and Jonah Verdon.
