92Y Tribeca has announced upcoming May and June theater events.
On May 23, 92Y will present a Handbook for an American Revolutionary reading and panel discussion. The event will feature author Matthew-Lee Erlbach performing a reading of his play and a conversation with Erlbach, director Mark Wing-Davey, and other special guests, moderated by Citizen Radio’s Allison Kilkenny.
In June, The Civilians will present Let Me Ascertain You: Bogotá (June 13). Part of their ongoing cabaret series, the work explores the annual beauty pageant that takes place in El Buen Pastor, the national women’s prison in Bogotá, Colombia. Next, Jeffrey Ernstoff and his fellow musicians will perform On Cole Porter and All That Jazz (June 14), an evening of music and insights into what has made Porter irresistible to artists like Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis.
Business manager for Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University Marc Courtade will present On The Iconic Barbara Streisand (June 20), a look at the best-selling female recording artist of all time. Then, Woman of Whimsy (June 20), a one-hour cabaret following the adventures of Doctor Princess Lady Scoutington, will explore life, love, loving life, and living with love. The show is based on the life and comedy of Scout Durwood.
