The cast of Broadway's It Shoulda Been You received a special backstage visit this week when stage legend Bernadette Peters stopped by. Peters, who starred as the Witch in the original Broadway production of the musical Into the Woods, came to see her former costar Chip Zien, who was Into the Woods' original Baker. Zien plays It Shoulda Been You's father of the bride, Murray Steinberg. The backstage meet-and-greet was also poignant as Peters visited David Burtka, who plays groom Brian Howard in Shoulda. Burtka played Tulsa to Peters' Rose in the 2003 Broadway revival of Gypsy.

It Shoulda Been You is described as "a culture clash for the ages" that follows two families who come together to celebrate a wedding. Directed by David Hyde Pierce, the production stars Tyne Daly and Harriet Harris as mothers of the bride and groom, alongside Sierra Boggess, Lisa Howard, David Burtka, Edward Hibbert, Montego Glover, Josh Grisetti, Michael X. Martin, Anne L. Nathan, and Nick Spangler, and Zien.
