Broadway’s Gregg Edelman, Debbie Gravitte, and Karen Akers will also perform to help fund the annual Nightlife Awards.
Scott Siegel's annual Nightlife Awards ceremony, celebrating the year's best nightclub entertainers, will be preceded this year by an I Love the Nightlife benefit concert, featuring a host of nightclub and Broadway regulars. The 90-minute concert, including a post-show party, will take place on Thursday, January 9, in the Jerry Orbach Theater at the Snapple Center. Proceeds will go toward funding the Nightlife Awards 2014 ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at The Town Hall on Monday, January 27.
Performers include Tony nominee Karen Akers (Grand Hotel), Tony nominee Charles Busch (The Divine Sister), two-time Nightlife Award winner Jim Caruso, two-time Nightlife Award winner Scott Coulter, four-time Tony nominee Gregg Edelman (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Adam Feldman, Tony winner Debbie Gravitte (Carnival!), Maxine Linehan, William Michals (South Pacific), Nightlife Award winner Carolyn Montgomery-Forant, Elizabeth Stanley (Million Dollar Quartet), and more yet to be announced.
"It's crazy to be raising money for a show even as we're preparing to put it on," said Nightlife Award Executive Producer Scott Siegel, "but I am very grateful to Carolyn Montgomery-Forant for suggesting this benefit at The Snapple Center as a way of helping to fund the Nightlife Awards at The Town Hall. I am, of course, also deeply grateful to all of the great talent that has volunteered to be part of it, with more and more joining the list even though this is being created with very short notice. This outpouring of support has really touched me."
