The new musical began at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre earlier this year.
Tuck Everlasting, the new musical based on Natalie Babbitt’s novel, has announced principal casting for the Broadway production.
Tuck Everlasting will star Carolee Carmello (Finding Neverland) as Mae Tuck, Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies) as Jesse Tuck, Michael Park (How to Succeed…) as Angus Tuck , Terrence Mann (Pippin) as the Man in the Yellow Suit , Fred Applegate (The Last Ship) as Constable Joe, Robert Lenzi (South Pacific) as Miles Tuck, Michael Wartella (Wicked) as Hugo, Valerie Wright (Elf) as Betsy Foster, and 11-year-old Sarah Charles Lewis as Winnie Foster.
The new musical version of Tuck Everlasting is set to play Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre this spring, with opening night set for April 26. The show will begin previews March 31. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (Something Rotten!, The Book of Mormon) will direct and choreograph.
Tuck Everlasting features a book by Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde), music by Chris Miller, and lyrics by Nathan Tysen. It is inspired by Natalie Babbitt's beloved young adult novel of the same name, which was first published in 1975, and has remained in print ever since.The story follows 10-year-old Winnie Foster who meets young Jesse Tuck and discovers a secret spring that grants eternal life to whoever drinks its water.
Tuck Everlasting had its world premiere at Georgia's Alliance Theatre in early 2015 after being postponed from a Boston run in the summer of 2013. The Alliance cast was led by Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Ever After) as Jesse Tuck and Tony nominee Terrence Mann (Pippin) as Man in the Yellow Suit, alongside Carolee Carmello (Finding Neverland), and Michael Park (How to Succeed…), with 10-year-old Sarah Charles Lewis in the role of Winnie Foster.
The musical features scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Brian Ronan, orchestrations by John Clancy, and musical supervision by Rob Berman.
Tuck Everlasting is produced by Grove Entertainment, Arlene Scanlan and Michael Jackowitz, Howard and Janet Kagan, Jeffrey A. Sine, and Barry Brown.
